Lenovo sells 1 million Moto Z units, announces CEO Yang Yuanquing
The Moto Z is now one of Moto's bestselling devices.
On November 6, 2016, Lenovo CEO Yang Yuanqing announced in a tweet that the company has sold 1,000,000 units of the Moto Z smartphone. This announcement officially makes the Moto Z one of the most successful devices that Moto has ever produced.
Launched in June 2016, the Moto Z comes with a 5.5-inch display with 1440x2560-pixel screen resolution and 535ppi pixel density. It is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 processor, mated with 4GB of RAM. There is 64GB of internal storage expandable by up to 2000GB via microSD cards. Imaging capabilities include a 13MP rear camera and 5MP front camera. The smartphone operates on Android v6.0.1, and is powered by a 2600mAh non-removable battery.
Moto Mods, though, is the USP of the Moto Z lineup. Using magnetic pins aligned at the back, Moto Mods add varying specific customisations including the Hasselblad True Zoom for imaging, JBL SoundBoost for audio, and so on.
Lenovo, Moto's parent company, has recently overtaken Micromax to become the second biggest smartphone maker in the Indian market, by volume. The combination of Moto's legacy and Lenovo's support can form a crucial partnership in the smartphone-crazy market of today.
