Samsung Mobile Chief vows to rebuild consumer trust in the brand
He added that he would find the exact cause of the issue with the Galaxy Note 7 smartphones
The Samsung Galaxy Note 7 fiasco has hit the company's reputation pretty hard. Samsung Electronics mobile chief, Koh Dong-jin has now come forward and vowed to restore consumer trust following the Galaxy Note 7 fiasco. According to a report by The Korea Herald, Dong-Jin stated that he “would at any cost find the exact cause (of the faulty Galaxy Note 7) to restore trust of consumers so that they can use Samsung products without any safety concerns.” He also added that he was just as frustrated as others over the past week due to the incidents.
Besides apologising, Dong-jin also expressed his gratitude towards Samsung’s employees for their support during these times. The report notes that some employees also put up a series of posts on the company’s message board in support of Samsung’s president, and the company itself. Thereby boosting the morale of other employees.
The Galaxy Note 7 has caused a lot of grief to the company’s reputation. After a number of units started catching fire, the company issued a recall and sent out “safe” phones, which started catching fire as well. Finally, the company decided to pull the plug on the smartphone and asked retailers not to sell or exchange the devices. There have also been reports suggesting that the company may even kill the ‘Note’ brand name altogether, in order to distance itself from the incident as much as possible.
