Samsung Galaxy S8 tipped to feature 5.5-inch 4K display, 6GB/8GB RAM variants
It is also tipped to powered by either the Snapdragon 830 or the Exynos 8895 SoC
After the Galaxy Note 7 fiasco, Samsung’s next flagship smartphone, the Galaxy S8, will have a lot riding on it. However, judging by the specifications leaked by Chinese leakster, KJuma, the phone might just be up to the task. As per KJuma’s post, the phone may feature a 5.5-inch Super AMOLED 4K display. Further, it’s tipped to be powered by either the Snapdragon 830 or the Exynos 8895 SoC, and both are expected to be manufactured using the 10nm process. This seems plausible as Samsung has announced that it has already begun mass producing chipsets using the 10nm process.
The post also tips the phone two be available in 6GB and 8GB RAM variants. The company recently unveiled the Galaxy C9 Pro, which is the first phone by the company to sport 6GB of RAM. KJuma’s also tips the phone to be launched on February 26. This lines up with an earlier leak which said that the company was planning to launch the phone on that day during MWC 2017. However, it is possible that the Galaxy S8 may be delayed by two weeks. Reports suggest that Samsung executives may delay the launch of the phone in order to let its engineers figure out exactly what was causing the Galaxy Note 7 to catch fire. SamMobile also reports that the Galaxy S8 might be the first smartphone in the world to feature optical fingerprint recognition technology. This would eliminate for Samsung to add a fingerprint scanner below the home button as it would allow it to use the entire display as the sensor.
